The PE120 is a 120-VAC-powered photoelectric smoke alarm with 9-volt battery back-up. Easy to install using the included quick-connect power harness, this model also comes with a battery pull-tab that eliminates battery installation time and keeps the battery fresh until use.
Photoelectric Sensing Technology
The PE120 uses photoelectric sensing technology. Photoelectric sensing alarms may detect visible fire particles (associated with slow smoldering fires) sooner than ionization alarms. Ionization sensing alarms may detect invisible fire particles (associated with fast flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both photoelectric and ionization smoke alarms be installed to help insure maximum detection of the various types of fires that can occur within the home.
User-Friendly Features Let You Test Alarm Function
It's easy to tell that the PE120 is functioning properly. A test button lets you test the horn, electronic circuitry, and battery function in seconds; a red LED indicates that the smoke alarm is operating properly and alarm condition; and a green LED indicates the presence of A/C power flowing to the unit. There's also a dust cover to protect the unit during construction or renovation projects.
