Works Great! June 18, 2009 Brigham (Jensen, UT United States) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have a propane furnace. I have read many reviews about this Gas Detector and was a little skeptical about buying it. I bought it about 6 months ago and have loved it. It has never had a problem. I did spray the house once using Lysol and the alarm went off. Good to see that it works on a variety of different gases. Would recommend to anyone! I give the alarm a full 5 stars.
It beats the professional detectors July 5, 2010 Rosario Centanni (Houston, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought the Safety Siren several years ago after a gaz valve on the fireplace was not fully closed after use. Did some research and the Safery Siren came out very high.
The detector goes off one Saturday morning. Because the fireplace is in the den, that's where the Safety Siren is located. With some troubleshooting, it turns out one of the valves on the range is leaking gas. A call was made to the gas company and they advise to turn off the gas to the house and wait for a service technician to arrive.
A technican shows up in 10 to 15 minutes, not bad. He takes his detector to the range area and no alarm. He then goes to other areas of the house where gas lines are present. No alarms. Then the technician says that I probably got the Safety Siern off the internet and wasn't as accurate as the one he had since his was a professional model and is calibrated every three months and is used by most gas companies in the US, blah blah blah, and the Safety Siren most likely had a false reading.
Ok, that did it. I got an extnesion cord and plugged the Safety Siren in and moved it around the cook top. Sure enough it picked up a leak at one of the valves/knobs. The technician stuck his sensor near the knob and it detected gas. Hummm, I bought the S/S several years ago, it's never been calibrated since it left the factory.
Kudos to the gas company who handled the situation very well from start to resolution. Consider using S/S though.
Very good product February 28, 2010 Mark Bernadiner (Pearland, Texas USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I selected this detector among numerous productes on the market only because it is designed to detect just one source of truble, natural gas. This single-source detection principle helps me know what should I do, if the detector alarms. Delivery was very fast. Detector works well, as I checked it on my gas fireplace. I have a peace of mined now.
Propane Gas Detector March 26, 2010 GloryBee (Dallas, TX.) I am very pleased with the product. It was very easy to install and it is functioning as expected. I also like the lights on the product that indicate when the detector is sampling the air quality. I would recommend this product to otbers.
No problems. May 1, 2010 M. Lang (Bethlehem, PA United States) I purchased this detector to put in my garage because I use a portable propane grill near the opening of the garage door fairly regularly. It plugs directly into a wall outlet, so one must have an outlet placed at the proper location. That was not an issue for me. I installed the unit, and it seems to be working flawlessly. I like the fact that it flashes a red led regularly to indicate it is working. While I have had no alarms to date, I have also had no issues or false alarms. Overall, it appears to be just what I wanted to provide protection from a potential gas leak. It also has a 5 year warranty.
